AICC president Sonia Gandhi said revenue generated from Hyderabad would go to the new State of Telangana.
Addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday, Ms. Gandhi announced a series of sops for the new State.
“One of the country’s biggest power plants, with a capacity of 4,000 MW, will come up in Telangana,” she said, adding that a 10-year tax holiday would be given to new entrepreneurs to establish new industries in the backward areas.
The Congress president said the Pranahita-Chevella and Palamoor lift irrigation schemes would be accorded national project status in the coming days. She said Hyderabad’s image would be safeguarded, while giving the necessary thrust for development of other areas in Telangana.
Ms. Gandhi said the Congress had made all these promises with all sincerity and seriousness.
“The promises we make, we fulfil it,” she said, adding that transparency and accountability would be slogan of her government. There would be due involvement of people in implementation of the welfare and developmental programmes.
She urged the voters to back the Congress for the bright future of the State of Telangana.
