Teachers working in seven mandals of Bhadrachalam Agency given choice between TS and AP

Two hundred and ten teachers working in government schools in the seven Polavaram submergence-prone mandals of the Bhadrachalam Agency have opted to work in Andhra Pradesh.

According to sources, a total of 673 teachers are presently working in the government schools in the seven tribal sub-plan (TSP) mandals of Bhadrachalam Agency, those transferred from the district to Andhra Pradesh as per the Centre’s ordinance on Polavaram project.

These mandals, include Vararamachandrapuram, Kunavaram, Chintur and Bhadrachalam (except for Bhadrachalam major gram panchayat) of Bhadrachalam division and Kukunoor, Velerupadu and Burgumpadu (barring 12 revenue villages) of Palvancha division.

463 for Telangana

Sources said the district education authorities collected applications from the government teachers working in the seven merged mandals giving them an option to choose between the Telangana State and the successor State of AP.

As many as 463 teachers opted for Telangana State and 210 choose to work in Andhra Pradesh, sources added.

The heads of the other departments also initiated a similar exercise to compile the data as per the options to be exercised by their employees and submit the same to the higher authorities for their perusal.

Complete in a few days

The exercise is likely to be completed in the next few days following which the transfer/allotment of the employees will be taken up by the higher authorities of the district in consultation with their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh, sources said.
