BJP on Tuesday made a fresh demand that the resignation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan be accepted immediately in the wake of the Adarsh housing scam and threatened to raise in Parliament “various scams“.
“Things are now out in the open. The country wants a decision. There should be no delay on part of the Congress and the Chief Minister’s resignation should be accepted immediately,” senior party leader Sushma Swaraj said here.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha claimed that “more scams” in Mumbai like the Adarsh Housing Society scam would come to the light in the coming days.
“I was speaking with the national president (Nitin Gadkari) and he said more such scams in Mumbai will come out in the open in days to come,” she said.
The BJP would scuttle any plans of the Congress to “hide” the CWG scam behind the housing society scam, Ms. Swaraj said, adding the party would “expose” all scams in the Winter session of Parliament beginning next week.
Mr. Chavan had offered to resign on Saturday during a meeting with Gandhi in connection with the controversial Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society which was supposedly meant for widows and veterans of the Kargil war.
