Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses a parivartan rally in Kanpur on Monday.

2.55 p.m.

Referring to the fight against black money, Mr. Modi said history would remember it as the moment when 125 crore people stood together for the sake of corruption.

2.45 p.m.

Pushes for cashless transactions and mobile banking.  Those who oppose my push for mobile banking are the same who say that the poor in the country do not have mobile phones. These are the same people in every election rally who would talk about Rajiv Gandhi's role in bringing in the 'computer age' and empowering the poor with the mobile phone. But when I talk about mobile banking, they turn around and say the poor do not have mobile phones. How much can they lie?

2.38 p.m.

The difficulty will start to decrease, not become worse, after fifty days.

2.37 p.m.

You did not bear the inconvenience for your personal interests but for the interest of the nation.  There is no reason for you to be disappointed. Because there is honesty and purity involved in this...

2.35 p.m.

Don't underestimate a government based on honesty.  We are using technology to trace people who deposited money. You can see how people are being arrested with black money. I am retrieving the debt of the poor from those who exploited them. I know their power. They an buy the officers of the banks. They can do anything. But my countrymen, this fight is for the poor and honest people. Our government will win this fight. I know what the people had to face...they did it for bright future of the country.

2.31 p.m.

Our government is for, by and of the honest.

2.27 p.m.

We provided gas connections to 45 lakh people below poverty line without any discrimination.

2.25 p.m.

Among these 50 villages are such were people don't reside. So in actual terms, only 20-22 villages remain.

2.24 p.m.

1500 villages in UP did not have any power supply since Independence. I had promised I would electrify 18000 villages nationwide in 1000 days. Today I can say only 70-72 such villages remain in UP where there is no power.

2.19 p.m.

When we had the Rs 1000 note, nobody cared about those with Rs 100 bill. But since the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes have been banned, the Rs 100 note has been empowered. Today small notes and small people are both acknowledged.

2.17 p.m.

We need to free the country of black money and corruption. It is the reason why the poor is poor. It is necessary we act as soldiers in this fight and work towards a bright future of the country.

2.16 p.m.

I appeal the EC once again to apply pressure on parties and push for simultaneous polls, hold wide discussions. Our government will accept the decision, which will be in the welfare of people.

2.14 p.m.

The second thing I said at the meeting was pitch for an atmosphere to hold all elections at once. If elections are held every five years...I told all parties we must discuss this. But they (opposition) did not allow the discussion. They wanted to avoid it.

2.12 p.m.

Before the winter session of Parliament, in an all party meeting, I had said in the presence of all leaders that the country wants honesty and progress on the basis of it. Public does not trust politicians. Politicians need to gain their trust. And I said we must discuss the funding of political parties, their accountability.  I said we must find a way.

2.06 p.m.

I want to welcome the Election Commission's decision. They have appealed the political parties to be free of black money. The BJP welcomes it.

2.04 p.m.

Today the government in Delhi wants to give poor their rights and free the middle class of exploitation and send the country on the path of honesty. It wants to create a new force on the path of honesty. But, brothers and sisters, those who are habituated to being dishonest, of doing wrong acts, the country cannot expect much them from them.

This fire of change, this thunderstorm of change in UP is here because people here are tired of goondagardi (hooliganism). The government is giving patronage to the goonda, Modi says in an attack on the SP government.

Till you do not change the government in Lucknow, those involved in hooliganism will not be set right.

2.00 p.m.

This corruption, black money has exploited the poor and snatch away the rights/share of the middle class.

1.58 p.m.

The country is today divided into two parts. On one side, a handful of politicians who want to protect the dishonest, black money and the corrupt. On the other side, is the entire nation, which is ready to bear anything to walk the path of honesty.

1.56 p.m.

Parliament was stalled in the past too, but then Opposition parties would want to fight against corrupt people, expose scams and demand punishment for those involved in scams. But today for the first time, their were slogans raised in Parliament in support of the dishonest. Government wants to punish the dishonest, but the Opposition parties were united in trying to save the dishonest.

1.53 p.m.

They are scared. It was proving difficult for them to provide an account of their rule, Modi says in an attack on the Congress.

1.52 p.m.

After launching various projects of Skill development, says they are equivalent to "energy projects" and work to bring in economic change. It is UP's pride that it made a big contribution to give the country a stable government. For 30 years, things were working on compromise and decisions were not taken. The country was not the priority.

The government in Delhi now is committed to the poor. All our schemes are brining change in the lives of the poor, Dalit, backward, women, youth, oppressed.

I am stunned, on one hand, we are fighting to end corruption and free country from black money. Our agenda is end corruption and black money.

Their (opposition) agenda is stalling of Parliament. Entire month, they did not let Parliament function. Why did you not let discussions take place? Even after the President's appeal, they kept shouting slogans and created furore. They did it as they wanted to avoid the issues the government wanted to discuss.

1.45 p.m.

Countries that have wealth and power of youth can show its strength in the world. India is fortunate that it has more than 65 percent of its population below age of 35. A country is young and has energetic youth, it can showcase its strength at the global scene but only when it has skills and opportunity.
