2 more held in BJP leader murder case

Two more persons have been arrested here for allegedly being involved in the > killing of BJP leader Om Vir Singh with police on Monday saying that they have also recovered the licensed revolver of the deceased which the assailants had snatched at the time of the crime.

According to Circle Officer Mahesh Mishra, the duo of Ravinder alias Motu and his bank guard namesake Ravinder were arrested here on Sunday evening.

Mr. Mishra said they have recovered Singh’s licensed revolver as also the bike which was used in the crime from the duo. He added that one of the accused is a security guard at a Punjab National Bank branch.

Prior to Sunday’s arrests, another accused, Monu, too, was taken into custody in connection with the case.

Mr. Mishra said that police are still looking for two more accused, Gurbir and Rahul, who are absconding.

The 47-year-old Singh, also known as ‘Fauji’, was a retired army man and the vice-president of the BJP unit in Mirapur town.

According to police, >he was out for a morning walk on June 10 when some assailants fired multiple shots at him. Singh, who had a licensed revolver on him, fired back at the attackers, injuring one of them. But the attackers managed to snatch the gun from him before fleeing.
