Israel, Iran’s regional rival, has slammed the agreement Tehran and the six global powers signed in Geneva on Sunday.

“What was achieved last night in Geneva is not a historic agreement, it was a historic mistake,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues. “Today, the world has become a much more dangerous place because the most dangerous regime in the world [Iran] took a significant step towards obtaining the world’s most dangerous weapon.”

Taking his cue from the Premier, Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz rejected the deal as a manifestation of “Iranian deception and self-delusion.”

Words of condemnation in Israel have been matched by an open display of hostility to the agreement by the mainstream Israeli lobby in the U.S.

Video released

On Friday, the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) took the unusual step of releasing a video, supporting U.S. lawmakers who have been intent on saddling Iran with another tranche of crippling sanctions.
