A fresh attack in the Kenyan coastal settlement of Mpeketoni has killed at least 15 people, following an earlier onslaught that left 49 dead, Daily Nation reported on Tuesday.

The victims included two police officers, Daily Nation quoted police as saying. Two houses were torched in the same area.

There was no immediate confirmation of the report.

The Somali militant group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack, in which about 50 gunmen rampaged through Mpeketoni, gunning people down, setting buildings on fire and killing patients in hospital beds.

The government vowed to hunt down the killers. President Uhuru Kenyatta has made no comment so far..
