US diplomat in Pakistan kills pedestrian in accident

An American diplomat accidentally killed a pedestrian while driving in the Pakistani capital on Friday, the U.S. Embassy has said.

The embassy said in a statement sent to reporters that the diplomat hit the pedestrian near a market in Islamabad. The pedestrian died as a result of his injuries.

The embassy expressed regret for the accident and said it was cooperating with Pakistani authorities on the investigation. It would work through its local insurance company to address financial questions or concerns of those affected by the accident, the embassy added.
