Nepal Parliament resumes business

The Parliament resumed its business on Wednesday after the ruling coalition agreed to some of the demands of the Opposition, including formation of a high-level political mechanism.

The Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) signed a five-point agreement to form the 15-member body, one of the main demands of the Opposition, which has been obstructing the House since August 29.

The high-level committee “has been formed to complete the remaining tasks of the peace process and to develop mutual understanding between political parties,” the agreement text reads.
