Indonesian seismologists issued a tsunami warning after a second 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea late on Sunday.
The latest earthquake, which took place at about 13:35 GMT with its epicentre located 537 kilometres north-east of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics said.
It occurred in the deep of 26 kilometres.
At about 30-minutes earlier, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck the area, but the agency said it did not trigger a tsunami. The first quake occurred at the deep of 77 kilometres.
