A 22-year-old woman from Periyanaickenpalayam attempted to end life after allegedly poisoning her two-year-old mentally retarded son to death.
Vinitha, wife of Sugesh from Pettathapuram near Periyanaickenpalayam was frustrated as her son was having mental disabilities.
The incident happened on Thursday noon when Sugesh was away for work. Though both of them were working in the same company, Vinitha stayed back on the day as she was not well.
When Vinitha’s elder sister’s son Harshavarthan came to their house at about 12.30 p.m. and found the door locked, he alerted neighbours. He, along with Karunakaran, a neighbour, broke open the door and found them unconscious. Though both were taken to a private hospital at Karamadai, Sujai’s life could not be saved.
The police said that the condition of Vinitha is stable.
