The Pondicherry Utkal Samaj is all set to recreate the Rath Yatra of Puri Jagannath at Shreekshetra, Navayuga Nagar, Opposite Nallam Farm house on June 25.

Since a temple in the name of Puri Jagannath was constructed at Gorimedu in 2007, the Samaj holds Rath Yatra every year with religious fervour and piety.

The Bahuda (return of Rath Yatra) would be held before sunset on July 3, a release from the Samaj said.

The festivity here is a recreation of the famous chariot procession carrying sibling deities — Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra in a Rath covering a distance of 3 km along Grand Road connecting Jagannath Temple and Mausima Temple in Odisha.

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Parida and Director of Jipmer, Dr. S.C. Parija will take part in the ceremonies.
