The stage is set for The Hindu In School Chess Competition 2016 to be held here on September 3.
Apart from online entries, spot registration has also been facilitated for the event, which will be held in two categories — Juniors (V to VIII Std) and Seniors (IX and XII Std).
Students who have completed the online registration should bring a printout of the confirmatory email received from The Hindu along with their school identity card. Both these documents are mandatory and need to be given at the Registration Desk.
FIDE Rapid rules
The tournament will be played on Swiss League basis under latest FIDE Rapid Rules. Players have to bring their own chess sets and chess clocks.
The decision of the tournament committee will be final and binding to all.
The committee has every right to make addition/amendments to the rules. The organiser has every right to accept or reject any entry without assigning any reasons thereof and the right to admission to the venue also rests with the organisers.
First time in city
The chess competition, which is being hosted in 30 centres across the country under the auspices of respective chess federations affiliated to the All India Chess Federations, is being held in the city for the first time. The Puducherry District Chess Association is supporting the competition.
The Arumuga Tirumana Nilayam, Muthialpet is the venue. Entry fee is Rs.100.
