Coop bank president held for graft

Sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC)on Friday nabbed the president of a Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank for demanding and taking bribe from a farmer to issue the cheque towards a crop loan.

According to M. Balasubramanian, ASP, DVAC, Ilango (59), president of PACB, Natrampalli, had initially demanded a bribe of ₹6,000 from M. Siva as a commission to release a crop loan of ₹60,000.

Ilango later settled for a bribe of ₹5,000. Based on a complaint from Mr. Siva, a team of DVAC personnel nabbed Ilango when he accepted the bribe.
