Chain snatched from elderly woman

A 67-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain on Sunday early morning. The Muduliarpet police have registered case and are on the lookout for the culprit.

The incident took place when the victim was on a morning stroll. S. Nagalakhsmi (67), wife of Seetharaman, was walking on the link road between Uppalam and Thengaithittu. A youth on a motorbike hit her on the face and snatched her chain and fled the scene. She fell unconscious on the road and passers-by came to her rescue. Police said the chain weighing five sovereigns was worth over Rs. 1 lakh.
