BIS certification for Central Excise

The Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerate here has been accredited with the Service Quality Management System (SQMS) certification licence for IS 15700:2005, committing the department to sustain efficient service delivery systems for its clientele.

The licence granted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the apex standards certifying agency, covers a range of service deliverables including written communications, conveying decisions on matters and release of non-essential seized documents, within specific timelines.

The Sevottam scheme, which broadly envisages the SQMS for the grant of the IS 15700:2005, is a flagship scheme of the Government of India whick aims to foster excellence in delivery of services by various public organisations.

Customer-centric processes

The Central Board of Excise and Customs had initiated a number of processes across field offices through a customer-centric citizen’s charter.
