Virar man tries to tender photocopy of Rs. 2,000 note at wine shop

A man was arrested in Virar on Sunday after he tried to tender a counterfeit note of Rs. 2,000. At about 8.30 p.m., Tushar Chikhale went to a wine shop to buy beer.

Having received his order, he gave a photocopy of Rs. 2,000 note. But the owner of the shop suspected foul play and called the police.

Booked

Assistant police inspector N.V. Dhone said he has been booked under Section 420 (cheating) and Section 489 A (counterfeiting currency notes) and Section 498B (using counterfeit notes to buy or sell) of the IPC.
