Shiv Sena skipped govt celebrations, now having its own party

It’s Sena’s private programme and should not be seen as a rift within the government: BJP

A month after the Bharatiya Janta Party completed one year of forming the government in Maharashtra, its key ally Shiv Sena is all set to launch its own set of celebrations. The Sena, which will complete its one year as part of the current government on December 5, will hold a special programme at Ravindra Natya Mandir on December 3. Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will release the progress cards of all the party’s ministers, listing their achievements.

The Sena was conspicuously missing from the October 31 revelry of the government’s one-year celebrations, which were dominated by the BJP ministers.

Despite categorical statements from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis then that the ‘entire government’ has completed one year, the Sena chose to remain unenthusiastic, which was attributed to the feud between both the parties.

Yet again, the Sena has chosen to showcase its performance maintaining distance from the BJP. “These are not the celebrations. We joined the government around this time in 2014 and we are ensuring that we present our performance in front of the people through this programme,” said party MP Anil Desai.

The BJP reacted saying it is the Sena’s private programme and should not be seen as a rift within the government.
