One killed in cylinder explosion in Central Mumbai

One person died and 11 others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Central Mumbai on Monday morning.

According to the police, around 7.30 a.m. residents from the Sandeep Colony in Chembur started checking for a gas leak which emanated in their locality. But before they could tab the leak, the explosion occurred resulting in death of a person.

Wife and mother of the deceased have also sustained serious burn injuries and have been admitted to the State-run Rajawadi hospital. All the other injured too have been admitted at the same hospital.

A Mumbai fire brigade team was rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control within an hour.

The police has lodged a case of accidental death and are probing further.
