Bank robbery accused held

The Bandra police on Friday arrested two accused wanted for a bank robbery in Lucknow last year. The police have seized two country-made weapons from the duo and are interrogating them.

According to the Bandra police, the accused have been identified as Kumar Prajapati and Asgar Ali. The police said the duo was picked up from near the Shastri Nagar bus depot around 4.20 pm on Friday after an informant tipped the police off about their whereabouts. The police have also recovered nine live rounds from them.

“The accused had in 2015 robbed a State Bank of India branch in Chinhat near Lucknow, killing the security guard and fleeing with Rs 80,000 in cash in broad daylight,” an officer said.
