An Assistant Commissioner of Police with the Navi Mumbai police has been missing since Friday.

Officials said that the family members of ACP Rajkumar Chaphekar, Economic Offences Wing, registered a Missing Persons Report on Saturday evening, saying that he has been missing since Friday night.

Mr Chaphekar's family, in their complaint, have stated that Mr. Chaphekar was last seen at home in Seawoods Estate at around 8 p.m. on Friday.

"He left his mobile phone and jewellery he wears at home and walked out. Nobody saw him leaving house. CCTV footage of the building shows him getting into an OLA cab," a police official from NRI police station said.

"Prima facie, it appears he was under some stress and hence he left home on his own. We are trying to trace the OLA car to find the location he was dropped at," the officer added.

"Mr. Chaphekar was transferred from the Port division to the EOW in the last week of January. A team with the NRI police station is working on tracing him," Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Pathare, Zone I, Navi Mumbai police said.
