Godown in Kalachowky catches fire, Mumbai, March 6, 2018

A major fire broke out in a godown in Dattaram Lad Marg, Kalachowky, Mumbai, on Tuesday morning. No casualties have been reported yet, according to BMC officials.

According to fire officials, the fire brigade got the call at 11.51 a.m and on arrival, the fire was declared a Level 3 fire. It was subsequently upgraded to Level 4 at 12.23 p.m.

“The fire is confined to a ground-plus one floor godown. The rescue operations of stranded persons in the vicinity is currently underway,” said a senior fire official. Sixteen fire engines and 12 jumbo tankers have been deployed.

The godown, opposite Aastha Maternity Nursing Home, belonged to a company called Eastern Metal Works, according to BMC officials.
