District Collector C.A. Latha, who is also the District Election Officer for Kozhikode, has cautioned political parties against using campaign materials such as posters and banners without clearly mentioning the name of the printer and publisher as well as the number of copies during the election. In a release issued here, Ms. Latha said action would be taken against those who used such materials in violation of the instructions of the Election Commissioner. Such materials would be destroyed by the special flying squad.
Political parties had been directed to submit four copies each of every campaign material they use, including flex sheets and posters, at the Election Expenditure Cell functioning at the Collectorate here. Legal action would be initiated against those who violated the regulations. “The charges can bring them up to six months imprisonment and fine,” said the release. The violations can be brought to the attention of the election commission on ph: 18004255504.
