The city will witness three processions as part of the 55th edition of the State school arts festival scheduled to begin here from January 15.
A Vilambara Jatha at 3 p.m. on January 9 will proclaim the “arrival” of the week-long event to the city.
The procession will be flagged off by Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb and will be featured by a select group of students besides student police cadets and Scouts and Guides, said Deputy Director of Education (DDE) Gireesh Cholayil.
Second rallyThe second rally, in a decorated vehicle, is meant for parading the gold cup of the arts festival.
Accompanied by an announcement about the festival, the vehicle will go around the city starting from 3 p.m. on January 12.
A group of students and people’s representatives will accompany the trophy in the vehicle, said Mr. Cholayil.
Third processionThe third procession will be on the evening of the opening day of the festival on January 15 and will be a mega show with several attractions.
Over 6,000 students will be part of the procession, which will showcase the State’s cultural heritage and beauty in different floats and performances.
ArrangementsArrangements for the festival are entering the final stage, with Mayor A.K. Premajam releasing the schedule and brochure at a function in the city on Thursday.
All the 18 venues of the event have been named after different ragas starting with the carnatic raga Mohanam for the main venue, which is the Malabar Christian College grounds, said Sudhakaran Parambath, convener of the programme committee.
