Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, V. Ramulu, Postmaster General (Northern Region), said that 19 ATMs would be opened at the head post offices and sub post offices in the Malabar region this fiscal. The first one would be installed at Perinthalmanna post office shortly.

He said all the head post offices and sub post offices in the region had been computerised. It was expected to provide handheld devices to all branch post offices in the next 18 months. Core banking software had been launched in all the head post offices facilitating anywhere-banking, Mr. Ramulu said.

Mobile money remittance facility has been made available at 91 post offices.

A solar power system had been provided at Ettanur post office in Palakkad division which was the first of its kind in Kerala Circle, he said.

Digital Locker

Mr. Ramulu said that 30 per cent of the employees had opened Digital Locker during last week. It was expected that 100 per cent would be covered within a week.
