Policemen attacked

A group of suspected Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) workers on Saturday unleashed an attack on police personnel who were on duty to control a march taken out by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) activists at Velam.

Four policemen suffered minor injuries. The irate party workers damaged two police vehicles. Tension prevailed as the IUML workers tried to prevent the SDPI march and entered into a scuffle with the local police. Sources said the march against ‘political terrorism’ was held without permission.
