The Health Department has asked the people to observe at least one day in a week as ‘dry day’ in the wake of increasing number of dengue cases being reported from different parts of the district.
In a press release here on Wednesday, the District Medical Officer said that 363 suspected cases of dengue had been reported in the past one week and there had been four deaths. Forty nine cases had been confirmed so far.
The official said that water should not be allowed to be stagnated to avoid breeding of mosquitoes. Acute fever, headache, and pain around the eyes are the preliminary symptoms of the disease. Those who had recovered from dengue should take care as a relapse would lead to dengue haemorrhage fever and dengue shock syndrome, which may even lead to death. Bleeding from the nose and hair follicle are some of the symptoms for the relapse. The DMO said that the people should avoid self-medication if they were feeling feverish.
