Even as the unrelenting summer heat bears down on the city residents, they now have to cope with unannounced power supply disruptions.
While a few manage to meet the situation with invertors and generator back up, the majority are compelled to go through the sweltering experience.
Infants and senior citizens laid up with various diseases are the worst affected. Though the Board usually announces the list of regions where the power regulation will be in force, some feel that it is not accurate.
Several times
“Last week, the supply was disconnected several times under the West Hill and Karaparamba section offices. The voltage too is fluctuating these days,’ says Vinesh Mohan, a consumer from the area. He said the office number of the KSEB would be engaged always preventing consumers from lodging complaints.
Residents from Ramanattukara and Kadalundi regions have also come up with complaints on power supply disruptions. “Even for a half-an-hour repairs at a particular spot, the entire power supply is disconnected for several hours,” say B. Abhilash, a native of Ramanattukara.
When contacted, a KSEB official said that the unannounced power regulations were made only on certain emergency conditions for carrying out repair work.
“Last week, the power supply was disrupted in some locations of Ramanattukara following the repair work undertaken on 33kv Ramanattukara feeder. It was previously announced,” he said.
The official also said that the power supply had improved considerably in the city compared to last year.
All consumers’ complaints are being addressed on time, he said.
