Two wheels of the third boogie of an empty EMU rake got derailed at Majerhat station in Eastern Railway’s Sealdah South section today, disrupting EMU local services along the suburban route for over two hours.

The empty rake got derailed at 10.58 a.m. while it was being brought at a platform of Majerhat station, affecting train services in Sealdah-Budge Budge and Princep Ghat-Majerhat routes, an Eastern Railway spokesman said.

“There was no causality or injury to any passenger as the rake was empty,” the spokesman said.

Normal train services were restored at 1.15 p.m. following necessary re-railment work of the rake.
