Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly and Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra and his wife Usha Mishra have total assets of Rs. 25,80,459. This has been revealed by the affidavit filed by the CPI(M) Polit Bureau member as part of his nomination process for the Narayangarh constituency in Paschim Medinipur district.
The 67-year- old leader does not own any vehicle and does not have a single paisa in cash. There was a total of Rs. 2,50,893.77 in his two savings bank accounts along with Rs 327066 in Public Provident Fund deposits.
Dr Mishra, who also has a diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases, has inherited 14400 Sq.ft of non-agricultural land in Paschim Medinipur district, on which he has constructed a house with total expenditure of Rs. 3,30,000.
The approximate current market value of the land is Rs. 6,02,500, and that of the house is Rs- 6,00,000, making the total worth of the property Rs. 12,02,500.
Dr Mishra's assets in 2011 when he contested from same constituency was 18,33,872 as per the affidavit filed then.
His assets have grown by 40.7 per cent.
