The body of an unidentified woman was found in a stormwater drain in Madambakkam near Tambaram on Sunday. The victim’s body, with cut wounds on her nose, was first seen by residents of Denukambal Nagar, Selaiyur police said.

The woman, aged around 30, was wearing a green salwar and a yellow kameez with a gold-plated wrist watch. Residents told police that the victim was not a local resident. Forensic experts visited the spot and have been pursuing the case.

Selaiyur police removed the body to Tambaram taluk hospital at Chrompet for post-mortem and are checking the list of ‘missing persons’ to identify the woman.
