: The Madras High Court on Monday ordered issue of notice to Kanchi acharya Jayendra Saraswati and eight others as the State government filed an appeal challenging their acquittal by a lower court in auditor Radhakrishnan assault case in April this year.

When the appeal moved by the State came up for hearing, Justice R. Subbiah ordered notice to all the nine respondents on maintainability, and adjourned the case for two weeks for further hearing.

The prosecution, in its appeal, has claimed that the trial court had acquitted them contrary to law and against weight of evidence and probabilities.
