Strike by AI pilots affects operations in Chennai

Published - September 26, 2009 04:28 pm IST - Chennai:

Two international flights and a domestic flight of Air India were cancelled here on Saturday following strike by a section of pilots of the national carrier.

Though Air India’s operations from here were normal in the forenoon, two international flights—one to Sharjah and another to Colombo—scheduled to leave in the afternoon were cancelled due to the strike, airport sources said.

Air India’s flight to Madurai was also cancelled, they said. They also added that arrangements were being made to accommodate the passengers on alternative flights.

A section of the Executive pilots have called the strike to protest up to 50 per cent reduction in their productivity-linked incentives (PLIs).
