Bowing to persistent protests by the residents of Srinivasapuram demanding the closure of the liquor shop located on the Marina Loop Road, the State government is planning to shift the shop to a different location within the vicinity.

Citing the presence of the liquor shop as one of the reasons for the death of V. Nandini, a teacher who was killed while chasing a robberon Monday night, the residents have been demanding the shop’s closure.

A senior official of the City Police said, “We have already given a report informing the government about the need to close the liquor shop as residents are protesting. It is reliably learnt that the government is seriously considering the shifting of this shop. Already, the TASMAC is looking for an alternative location.”
