The Senior Citizens Group of Besant Nagar has launched a campaign to collect and distribute coconut water from temples in the city.

According to a press release, thousands of coconuts are broken daily in temples. No effort is made by the authorities to collect the precious water and distribute it to the devotees. Instead, the coconut water is allowed to go down the drain.

As a result, the group has started a campaign to convince the temple managements to collect the coconut water and distribute it to devotees. As part of this effort, the group is offering free buckets to the temple for the purpose.

The group will also provide volunteers to help in collection and distribution of coconut water in temples. For details, contact: Professor V. Chandrasekar (9884224480), the release added.
