Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Group of Schools celebrated its 59th anniversary — Abhinaya 2016 — in the city on Friday. Students from the T. Nagar, Siruseri and Nungambakkam branches of the school participated.
The theme of this year’s function was Kathai Kathaiyaam Kaaranamaam with a series of performances based on the Panchatantra, Arabian Nights, Tenali Raman and Theseus and the Minotaur among others.
Dr. (Mrs) Y.G. Parthasarathy, dean and director, PSBB Group of Schools, addressed the gathering and awarded the Shiksha Seva Ratna award to M. Selvakumar, an alumnus, for educating underprivileged students in Chengalpattu free of charge through his coaching centre Kalvialaya . “My mother was a domestic help and there was only so much she could afford. I am what I am today only because of this institution,” he said.
Ambika Kameshwar, founder – director, RASA, Centre for Theatre Arts and Special Needs, presided over the event. Meena Muthiah, founder of Chettinad Vidyashram School, was also present at the function.
