In yet another instance, a portion of a road near the Taylor’s Road junction in Kilpauk caved in around 4.30 a.m. on Saturday.

Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) has issued a denial, saying it was not related to their work. Tunnelling and other underground work in this stretch was completed nearly two years ago, they said.

However, a CMRL contractor has taken up the work to repair the road after the cave-in.

Chennai roads have seen several cave-ins in the recent past, most of them attributed to CMRL’s tunneling work.
