The special officer deputed to probe the case of missing film producer Madan on Thursday submitted before the Madras High Court that based on the material evidence collected till date, he is confident that the producer was very much alive.
S. Radhakrishnan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Branch (CCB), Chennai made the submission before a Division Bench of Justices S. Nagamuthu and V. Bharathidasan, when the Bench raised a specific query about producer Madan, as a letter left behind by him expressed a suicidal intent.
Sudden disappearance
The issue pertains to the sudden disappearance of Madan, a film producer and chief of Vendhar Movies based in Chennai. The producer’s mother R.S. Thangam, through a habeas corpus plea, sought the High Court to direct the police to trace and produce him before the court.
Perusing the report filed by the special officer, the Bench said, “The investigating officer submits that prima facie based on the materials collected by him till date in the investigation, he was very confident that Madan was very much alive.
“He was hopeful of locating and securing him in due course.
“In the other cases [against Madan alleging that he had collected money from students on the promise to get admission in S.R.M. University}, we are satisfied that the investigation is being carried out prima facie in the right direction.”
The Bench then directed the investigating officer to file a report for further compliance in two weeks.
