Soundarapandian alias Souba was arrested on the charge of murdering his son

The S.S. Colony police, which arrested writer Soundarapandian alias Souba, along with two of his farm workers, on Wednesday on the charge of murdering his son Vipin, 27, was sent to police custody on Thursday after producing him before a judicial magistrate court here.

Farm workers R. Ganesan, 42, of Nilakottai and S. Boomi, 40, of Pallapatti, were sent to judicial custody. Judicial magistrate V. Uma granted the police custody of Soundarapandian. A former journalist popularly known as Souba, Soundarapandian brought out the issue of female infanticide prevailing in Usilampatti region.

The movie, Seevalaperi Pandi , was based on his story.

“He was frustrated over his son’s addiction to liquor and drugs after he started beating him and abusing him every day,” Thilagarthidal Assistant Commissioner of Police M. Vetriselvan said.
