Nearly 200 cheated in Rs. 38 lakh job racket; 8 held

Candidates received offer letters after paying a caution deposit of Rs. 20,000

The Central Crime Branch of the city police on Monday arrested eight persons, including three women, on charges of cheating nearly 200 job aspirants.

The suspects, who are employees of software firm EPTA Technology Private Limited, which has a branch in Nandanam, had issued offer letters to 190 graduates after collecting a caution deposit of Rs. 20,000 each.

Following training sessions, the firm abruptly closed its office in Chennai and other parts of the country recently. They approached the Office of the Commissioner of Police last week after which a CCB team probed the matter.

The representatives of the firm Sujatha Singh (24), Ambrish Sharma (27), Syed Rasool (30), Vignesh (38), Sriram (24), Karthik (24), Nandini (23) and Abhinaya (23) were arrested by the CCB team on Monday morning. A hunt is on to apprehend the two directors and other executives.
