Murthuzaviya Foundation founder Khadri dead

S.K. Khadri, former honorary physician to the President of India, philanthropist and educationist, died at his residence on Tuesday. He was 97.

His son, G.S.M.P. Khadri, honorary secretary and correspondent, Murthuzaviya Educational and Cultural Foundation of South India, said that his father had been a medical practitioner for over 65 years and had served in several capacities, including founder-director, Tamil Nadu Medicinal Plant Farms and Herbal Medicine Corporation. He was also the hereditary Muthavalli of the Hazrath Syed Murthiza Basha Khadri Durgah. He said his father had worked tirelessly for communal amity and had started the Eid Milan party four decades ago. As part of the Murthuzaviya Foundation, a hospital, Arabic and Persian institutions and Calligraphy institutions were being run. The Janaza Namaz would be held on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Wallajah Big Mosque in Triplicane and burial at the Hazrath Syed Murthuza Basha Khadri Dargah, Big Street, Triplicane.
