Residents of Madambakkam, Vengaivasal and Rajakilpakkam have requested Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) to increase the frequency of 51G (Tambaram East-Vengaivasal), 51G Extension (Tambaram East-Medavakkam Road Junction) and small buses S3 (Chromepet-Madambakkam) and S10 (Chromepet-Jothi Nagar Madambakam).

At present, these services are operated every half-an-hour and at times, commuters are forced to wait for nearly an hour for them.

At several bus stops in the area — Sudarshan Nagar, Gayathri Avenue, Anna Nagar and Maruthi Nagar, Madambakkam and Vengaivasal — commuters rely on shareautorickshaws.

“During rush hour, the buses are crowded and the frequency of the white board services is low. Even shareautorickshaws accommodate commuters beyond the permitted limit,” says B. Krishnan, a resident of Madambakkam. Residents have also requested that all the buses halt at the Rajakilpakkam bus stop, where only 51G, 51G Extension and small buses S3 and S10 halt now. Commuters alighting at Velachery Main Road or Madambakkam Main Road, Rajakilpakkam, have to cover a long distance to reach Kamarajapuram bus stop or Mahalakshmi Nagar bus stop to board other buses to reach other destinations in the city. When contacted, MTC officials promised to do the needful.
