“Beauty comes from within. To me beauty is holistic,” says beauty expert and aromatherapy specialist Blossom Kochhar, whose radiant face does not reveal how many decades have gone by. She has been instrumental in popularising aromatherapy through her 25 year-research in aromatherapy and herbalism. She launched aromatherapy-based skin-and hair-care products under the brand name ‘Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic’, which have almost become a household name.

The idea of everything being “Nature derived” was a result of a childhood spent on coffee plantations as part of a large family. “Everything we consumed was organically grown. Over the past 30 years ago, I have constantly been in search of beauty solutions that had elements of Nature — what we apply should be as curative and effective as what we eat but such products were difficult to find. So, I decided to create products on the basis of Green Science and the concept of inner healing through the harmony of mind, body and soul. This little idea gave birth to Aroma Magic — a life-long journey of studying, experimenting, blending and creating a complete line of Nature-derived products.”

Aromatherapy is one of the oldest forms of natural therapy, dating back to 10,000 BC. Today, the concern for environment and the desire to connect with Nature has brought about a resurgence of interest in Aromatherapy.

“Aromatherapy has added a new dimension to skin, hair and body care and personal hygiene routine. Natural cosmetics are safer even though the effects might be slow to show,” says Kochhar.

The essential oils that are the base of aromatherapy, she feels should be incorporated in our daily lives. “They can impact your overall system.”

According to Kochhar, “Exfoliation, cleansing and moisturising are integral to your skin-care regimen. This would help in keeping your skin free from dead cells, clogged pores and will make it supple, hydrated and nourished.”

* Drink lots of water; follow a proper diet, which should include green vegetables, one protein a day and avoid junk and fried foods. Good sleep is a must too.

*Walking, yoga or meditation enhances blood circulation and helps in detoxing the body.

*Though skin-care is a must at every age, one should pay more attention to it when in their 20s as it slows down the ageing process of the skin. Besides an everyday cleansing-toning-moisturising routine, go for a scrub at least once a week. Use a coffee bean scrub as it helps in imparting a glow to the skin. Make sure to use a hydrating seaweed pack once in a week, as it helps in keeping your skin moisturised and nourished.
