Film artists association seeks protection for match

The South Indian Film Artistes Association approached the City Police Commissioner, T.K. Rajendran, on Wednesday seeking security for the ‘star cricket’ matches they were planning to conduct in Chennai on April 17. The event is being conducted to raise funds to construct their association building in T. Nagar.

Actor Nasser approached the Commissioner seeking security as they expected a huge crowd for the event to be held at M.A. Chidambaram stadium in Chepauk. Actors including, Rajnikanth and Kamal Hassan, are expected to be at the venue for the ‘Super Six’ match. “It was only on Wednesday that we finalised the stadium and we have started planning for the event. Since it is a big event we needed security. The Commissioner has agreed to provide us security for the event,” Nasser told The Hindu .
