A young doctor, N. Rajesh, was found dead in the water tank of his house in Poompuhar Nagar, Kolathur, on Friday evening.

According to police sources, his parents had gone to Sivaganga to invite relatives for his marriage, slated for July 3.

As Rajesh’s mobile phone was switched off, they asked their neighbours to check their residence. The neighbours, in turn, alerted the police. The police recovered Rajesh’s body from the tank and sent it to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for post-mortem.

The Kolathur police are investigating.

Transgender ends life

A transgender committed suicide in Villvakkam, following a quarrel with her neighbour.

Police said Priya, 25, was a resident of Gandhi Street. When her neighbour’s pet dog entered her house, she reportedly beat it, leading to a quarrel.

Priya committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling. The police arrested her neighbour on charges of abetting the suicide.

Man rescued

The police on Friday rescued a senior citizen, Govindharaj of Ezhil Nagar, who jumped into the Adyar in frustration as he was jobless.

The public, who saw him jump into the river, alerted the police.
