CM, Stalin condole Balakumaran’s death

Political leaders cutting across party lines condoled the death of novelist Balakumaran.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami led tributes to the writer, who died in a private hospital on Tuesday. “He had a pleasant manner and was liked by everyone. He has left an indelible mark in the Tamil literary field. I cherish the day when I conferred on him the Thiru.Vi. Ka Award,” said Mr. Palaniswami in a statement.

DMK working president M.K. Stalin said Balakumaran’s death was an irreparable loss to the Tamil literary world while MDMK leader Vaiko hailed his contributions.

Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan said the interest in his works was explained by the boom in the sale of his novels. AISMK leader R. Sarathkumar also condoled his death.

Actor Rajinikanth paid his tribute to Balakumaran at his residence.
