Officials from the Indian Oil on Saturday said that there is no fuel or LPG shortage in the city. Sabitha Natraj, Chief CC Manager told that "due to water logging in our supply points efforts have been taken to source products from Trichy, Sankari, Chittoor, Bangalore etc".
In a press release the oil agency said:
There is no fuel or LPG shortage in the city. Due to heavy water logging in petrol pumps, we have been unable to operate the pumps due to safety and security concerns. Dispensing of products to vehicles is an electrical operation, which cannot be resorted to when the pump is filled with water.
Availability of service staff like tank truck drivers and pump attendants has grown to be a big challenge in the current situation. Many of them are from low lying areas, whose houses have got submerged in water.
Due to water logging in our supply points efforts have been taken to source products from Trichy, Sankari, Chittoor, Bangalore etc.
"Indian Oil is committed towards serving Chennai and its citizens. All efforts are being made to effectively dispense fuels wherever it is feasible", Ms. Sabitha added in a press release.
