Chennai doctor arrested for abuse

The Thiruverkadu police have arrested a doctor for allegedly misbehaving with a 19-year-old woman at his clinic on Tuesday.

The police said, on Monday, the woman who lives in a hostel in Vanagaram had gone to the clinic at Pallikuppam near Vanagaram complaining of a stomach ailment, when the doctor allegedly misbehaved with her. Based on a complaint from the victim, the police arrested the doctor and remanded him to 15-day custody.

The police have also registered a case and invoked Sections 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) read with section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 1998.
