Around 607 movies made across south India will compete in 21 categories at the annual Filmfare awards (South), which will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on July 12.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the awards, actor and producer Dhanush, who has won four Filmfare awards so far, said, “Like every Indian actor, it was my dream to take the black lady (award) home. I may have started my career in 2002 and done some decent films, but had to wait until ‘Aadukalam’ to win my first award. It was really a great moment though I wish they had given it to me earlier, for films such as ‘Pudupettai’.”
The actor, who tasted success with his first Hindi film, expressed his wish to cut down on the number of films to make sure that he can concentrate on one film at a time.
“The expectations have increased. I would like to devote my time completely to one film,” he said.
On being given the Best Debut award for ‘Ranjhanaa’, last year, Dhanush joked that he perhaps needed so many years to become good enough as a debut actor.
