Mylapore has got yet another renovated air conditioned hall to host cultural activities. The Dakshinamurthi auditorium in P.S.High School, renovated and renamed as the TAG-PS Dakshinamurthi auditorium, was inaugurated on Saturday.
The entire hall has been given a new look with sound proofing, flooring and seating facilities among others.
Justice S. Ranganathan, former judge of Supreme Court of India, inaugurated the hall. A former student of the school himself, he suggested that the hall can be used to encourage debating and public speaking among educated youth.
“It can be used for public performances too,” he said.
Mr. Ranganathan, who shared memories of his time in school and recollected the names of his friends, stressed the importance of educational institutions and teachers in an era of scientific development.
T.S. Krishnamurthy, president of P.S. Educational Society, asked all former students of P.S. High School to contribute to its development. “We need to enhance the popularity and credentials of the school,” he said.
The inaugural function was followed by a musical concert.
